POSHAN Abhiyaan (Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition) was launched by Honourable Prime Minister on 8th March 2018. in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan The focus of Abhiyaan is to lay emphasis on nutritional status of adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers and children from 0 to 6 years of age.The first 1000 days of a child are the most critical, which includes the nine months of pregnancy, six months of exclusive breastfeeding and the period from 6 months to 2 years to ensure focused interventions on addressing under-nutrition. Besides increasing the birth weight, timely intervention will help reduce both Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR). Abhiyaan focuses on children in the age group of 0-6 years for their overall development. Anemia in young children, adolescent girls and women will also be focussed upon under Abhiyaan.e age group of 0-6 years for their overall development. Healthy Mewat Campaign
In Haryana, POSHAN Abhiyaan has selected Two districts, Nuh and Panipat, for first phase because of the dire need. EMPOWER PEOPLE believe in mechanism and the community participation. As government is doing their part we as community organization have job to make it happen with citizens support. Like our module we are engaging religious leaders, teachers, parents, and students has been done to make POSHAN Abhiyaan a Jan Andolan at the grassroot. Today We launched a campaign “Healthy Mewat” in village Jataka of Nagina (NUH.) Community leaders joined the meeting cum half day training to understand the issue of nutrition.  People were shocked to learn that 70.1% of total women of reproductive age in Mewat are Anemic while 80.7% of total children under 5 year also suffer with Anemia. It was not beyond shock to learn that Mewat ranks 464 amongst 599 districts of India.
This campaign will lead by BT Survivor leaders soon and this can not be possible without your engagement and support. Join us voluntary as advisor to campaign and also help us in arranging resources for the campaign.
Pamphlets and other expenses were supported by Nadia Kanwal.
