![]() Gaya: The growing influence of media cannot be ruled out. And if talked about development journalism that play a pivotal role in transforming the socio-economic and political scenario of the existing society and proactively appeal for policies for inclusive growth seems less developed still in the rural areas of the nation. Taking this view on the nature of journalism, the Empower People organized a workshop for news reporters working for various print media services at Sherghati in Bihar. The aims and objective of the workshop was to sensitize and trained rural news reporters on the larger issues concerning gender based violence, discrimination, human trafficking, poverty and education and farming as well. The workshop organized by the Empower People in association with Charkha Development Communication Network was addressed by Md. Anis-ur-Rahman Khan, a well known figure in print media and working in the arena for more than a decade in areas like Leh, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar and Jharkhand. The workshop had a good number of participants from well known brand newspapers like Prabhat Khabar, Hindustan, Sanmarg, Morning India, Dainik Jagaran and other journals. Taking the approach to train the rural journalists particularly on feature writing, Mr. Rahman, associate editor with the Charkha Development Communication Network expressed that a news reporter has limitation while working. They may feel constraint while sending news in hurriedness for their newspapers and often news trim down and get no proper place due to unavailability of required space. This leads to the reader incomplete as details are hampered. More or less news provides the details of immediate occurrence. Comparing how the feature article leaves ardent influence on the people’s mindset as it comes with maximum information and data. The impact made through feature writing is larger as a journalist puts maximum information that not only enhances the knowledge of an individual but leads him or her to a thinking mode on the vibrant issues. The feature articles unearth maximum facts as a journalist uses the most efficient 5 W and 1 H rules. The workshop got a positive response from the media persons as they refreshed themselves through acquainting with the dynamics of journalism.

Media manipulates almost all the events and control the minds of people who watch it. Those who control the media control the world. Gender based violence is promoted by religion and arrogant religious leaders. These people only have one agenda-to get rich.
