An architect by profession, I always had concerns regarding the exploitation of labour and ill-treatment and marginalization of people in the construction industry and society in general. Being part of Empower People since 2015 has given me a greater understanding of different layers of society, systems and follies. Having seen Empower People's anti-trafficking work and narrative up close and having spent time understanding the larger context of slavery and marginalization behind the issue of trafficking that the organisation has phenomenally extracted in its years of research and field work, I feel confident that together we can truly make a difference. I intend to do my bit for all of us to inch closer towards a more just and humane world with Empower People. In my current role and responsibility as Treasurer of the organisation, I hope we can expand the circle of solidarity across the world and extend this beacon of hope to shine its light of solidarity in the darkest areas of human consciousness, social degradation and conscience depravation.
